Physicals in Boynton Beach, FL
Walk In Family Medicine Center
Children and adults alike need to receive physical exams to test their overall health. Backed by the advice of the Florida Health Services, we recommend you get an annual physical. Physical exams test many different elements of your health. Getting an exam is also an opportunity to prevent health problems in the future.
We provide most types of physical forms, but if you have a specialized form, please bring it with you. Also visit us for immunizations and tetanus shots, post-employment drug testing, PPD tests and chest x-rays.
Children and School Physicals
For new student enrollment and sports team participation, your child is going to need a physical. Chances are, your child told you about the physical last minute. Walk into our center and see a doctor right away. Mention our website when you come in and receive a $5.00 discount on school, college, sport or camp physicals.
We perform many physicals and know the process well. We will transfer your immunization records to schools in Palm Beach County. Brower County students need to bring their own forms. School physicals are $25.00 ($20.00 if you mention our site). Read more about Florida student physical requirements on the public health site for the State of Florida.
If you need a physical for college or work, we can get that for you very quickly — just walk in and see a doctor. Both college and work physicals are $50.00.
The Department of Transportation has a specific physical for working with them, which only DOT certified physicians can perform. Our doctors are certified every year so they can perform DOT physicals. We offer them for the competitive price of $95.00.
Elements of a Physical
Even though physicals are required for jobs and schools, the process can vary from doctor to doctor. There are a few common elements you can expect. Review the process and choose Walk-In Family Medicine Center for your annual physical.
During your physical, your doctor will be checking your physical wellness. This is also a great time to discuss any complaints or concerns about your health. The doctor will probably ask you questions about your lifestyle to get a better understanding of your health risks.
The doctor will check your blood pressure (less than 120 over 80 is a normal blood pressure for a healthy person), heart rate (usually looking for a rate between 60 and 100), and temperature (98.6 degrees Fahrenheit is the average temperature).
One of the usual tests your doctor will run will be a heart test. Your doctor will listen to your heart through a stethoscope. This will allow them to listen for an irregular heartbeat, a heart murmur or any signs that you may suffer from heart disease.
A lung exam will usually follow your heart exam. With the same stethoscope, the doctor will listen to your breathing. They are listening for crackles, wheezes or decreased breath sounds, which can all be signs of heart or lung disease.
